Devil's Bridge

Sedona is just a hop, skip and a jump from Flagstaff. Yesterday we drove down there to check out Devil's Bridge - a natural, sandstone arch. Don't let the name fool you, the view from the top of the arch is heavenly. The hike is a bit challenging because it is 1.5 miles of climbing...sometimes crawling, straight up. Plus, to get to the trailhead you have to drive a couple of miles on a dirt, very rocky road. You can only drive 5 mph or less, so it took a good 30+ minutes to drive those 2 miles. Emma didn't like the bouncy drive, and pretty much freaked out the entire time, but once we got there on the trail, she did great. She powered through and led the pack with Cole. I was very proud of her. Grace on the other hand, did fine on the drive, but whined and drug her feet the first 20 minutes of the hike. Not to mention that she drank her bottle of water in the first 3 minutes and had mine gone by the time we got up to the arch. Thankfully my aunt and uncle packed a couple extra bottles because it was about 80 degrees. But once we got near the top, she perked up and decided she really enjoyed it. As for me, I loved every minute of it.

At the bottom of the trail, ready to get started. See those bottles of water in my hand? One would be empty about 3 minutes later, and the other shortly after. Apparently Grace thought it was 120 degrees and that the bottles would magically refill themselves. :-)

Halfway there.

Almost there...

We made it!

We saw one of those rare mountain beagles. Just kidding. This is our little dog, Penelope. She did great! She just was leaping over those boulders.

Here we are on top of the arch
